Description

Osiris, pointing the sceptre of eternal royalty, speaks to the approaching soul: Enter, as you know! How many have longed to infiltrate this kingdom of Osiris and be initiated into its mysteries? To discover the faces of the great god and the extraordinary history of its religion, Bojana Mojsov, archaeologist, invites us to cross three millennia of Egyptian Antiquity: from the birth of the myth - whose source is to be found in the Nile valley, home to the incestuous love between Isis and Osiris - right up to its influence on multiple esoteric religions and traditions - from Christianity to Freemasonry via alchemy - which it was to instil with characteristic traits such as sacred river baptism or the invention of the Eucharist. Over the course of this journey, there endures the echo of a religion which has reached us from the black limestone of the prehistoric Nile from which it was hewn. Is this not what was foreseen by the ancient Coffin Texts when they stated: Yesterday belongs to me and I am tomorrow - is this what Osiris thought? Of Macedonian descent, Bojana Mojsov is an Egyptologist of international renown. She is credited for her work in the Egyptology departments of the Metropolitan Museum and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. She was also an advisor at the American Research Centre in Cairo during the restoration of the tomb of Seti Ist, in the Valley of the Kings, and a consultant for the new collections at the Khartoum National Museum, in Sudan.
