Jung demonstrated that within the human psyche there existed opposing energies, polar opposites, which came into conflict whenever we fail to transcend them: introversion and extroversion, the conscious and the unconscious, the persona and the dark side, the animus and the anima. The process of individualisation, or path of conflicting forces, enables us to communicate with these parts of ourselves which we repress, rebuff or ignore, to accept them and thereby achieve unity. Individualisation is therefore a path to fulfilment built on a harmonisation of the opposing extremes within us: by accepting our individual contradictions, we expand our awareness, our personality not only reorganises itself around our limited “me”, but around our inner being, the Self: our soul rediscovers its lost wings. The presentation of the path of conflicting forces, in easily accessible form, is followed by questions/ answers on different subjects, such as the divergence between Freud and Jung, the four essential functions of the psyche, alchemy, dream analysis, synchronicity.
