Description

In the first volume of the historic novel dedicated to Georges d’Antioche, the author introduces us to a number of episodes from the extraordinary life of this 12th Century Admiral of the King of Sicily, and the initiatory journey which led him from the Court of Palermo to the Great Pyramid of Giza. In this second volume, we continue to follow the adventures of this man who would work to establish peace between Christian and Muslim communities, in an era when the Middle East was ravaged by the crusades. The authority of Palermo thereby enables the traditions and beliefs formerly present in the Mediterranean basin to re-establish themselves in the wake of the destructive passage of the Romans. This is the point at which we encounter the geography of Al-Idrisi, who created a map of the world for the king of Sicily, the Sufi mystic Ibn Arabi, the poet and Persian scholar Omar Khayyam, but also Eleanor of Aquitaine and a great many others.
