1st June 1676, the great mathematician Leibniz arrived at the door of Mr Clerselier in order to consult the writings of Descartes contained in a case which had arrived from Sweden following his death. In it he discovered a book of 16 sheets full of mysterious signs, of which he managed to decode only a few pages. What did the book contain?
