According to the tradition, before departing our world Hermes Trismegistus left mankind a distillation of his doctrines and teachings on wisdom: the Emerald Tablet. This work offers us numerous ancient version of this text which is enormously famous among Hermetists, including what is currently the oldest accessible text: an Arabic version dating from the 6th Century. It is accompanied by various attempted French translations from the 15th - 21st Centuries, and several commentaries by such prestigious authors as Roger Bacon and Michel Maier, who bear witness to the fascination which the text has exerted for as long as it has been known. This work also includes numerous illustrations.
