The keys to living with joy
Joy differs from happiness and pleasure. If happiness is a state of mind and pleasure is a fleeting emotion linked to a specific moment, joy is more profound, intense and durable: it is experienced when we feel a force within ourselves that transports and develops us. We then have the feeling of a greater and improved existence.
But joy cannot simply be conjured up, and it can be lost. How can we rediscover it? Frédéric Lenoir here offers us the keys to once again living with joy. Nurture gratitude towards life, open the heart despite inevitable disappointments and delusion, realise that the joy of giving and unconditional love are both attitudes which favour the joy of living.
Joy is also connected to our inner freedom: we must learn to be present in what we do and what we feel, to avoid being overwhelmed by negative emotion, such as fear or resentment, which prevent us from fulfilling ourselves... Joy is not to be taken for granted, it is to be conquered. It is down to each of us to move towards the light, wisdom and joy.
