Description

Socrates, considered to be the father of western philosophy and one of the investors of moral philosophy, significantly affected the mind of Xenophon, who spent several years among in his company listening to his discussions with a broad range of people on a broad range of subjects. Memorabilia is a collection of memories entirely dedicated to the Philosopher, combining Socratic dialogue and philosophical treatise. In it we encounter a Socrates immersed in the daily life of Athens, mixing with poets, politicians, artisans and artists, both famous and unknown, never forgetting the importance of offering a fascinating lesson in logic or moral insight. In 1879 Nietzsche, himself, was unequivocal when he labelled Memorabilia the “most appealing book of Greek literature”.
