Description

Damask rose essential oil is an exceptional product. Its subtle, captivating, and invigorating fragrance is highly sought after.
Native to China, the rose bush is a thorny shrub that needs rich, slightly moist, well-drained soil and particularly enjoys showers (alternating rain and sun). The color of its fragrant flowers varies from pure white to deep purple. The leaves are alternate and mostly deciduous. They are composed of an odd number of leaflets (from three to seven) with serrated edges. The fleshy fruits are called rose hips. The actual fruits of the rose bush are the achenes found inside.
The word “rose” in French dates back to the 12th century and comes from the Latin “rosa, rosae,” which referred to both the rose bush and the flower itself.
The rose is to the West what the lotus flower is to the East. Remarkable for its beauty, shape, and fragrance, the “queen of flowers” has become a symbol of pure love and passion. The Chinese already knew about it 5,000 years ago.

The rose is to the West what the lotus flower is to the East. Remarkable for its beauty, shape, and fragrance, the “queen of flowers” has become a symbol of pure love and passion. The Chinese already knew about it 5,000 years ago.For the Greeks, it was a white flower, but when Adonis, Aphrodite's protégé, was mortally wounded, the goddess ran to him, pricked herself on a thorn, and her blood colored the flowers dedicated to her; the rose was born... from the tears of the goddess of love.
The rose is also a symbol of regeneration; thus, since ancient times, roses have been placed on graves. Cleopatra rolled out a thick carpet of roses before Mark Antony. In Rome, showers of roses were poured over the guests.
Avicenna, a Persian physician and philosopher (980-1037), is said to have produced the first bottle of rose essential oil. It was discovered in the East during the Crusades. The white rose produces the most precious oil. With some 275 components, it is one of the most complex essential oils.

The most beautiful Damask roses come from Syria, of course, but also from the famous Valley of Roses in Bulgaria (since the 17th century).
The rose has an intense and delicate fragrance that is sweet and fruity, opulent and spicy! The rose is floral, sensual, heady, vibrant, captivating, and so romantic!
It can even be used in cooking. A single drop is enough to flavor macarons, madeleines, or syrups.
