This book is divided into two parts: an essay by Michel Jourdan on the philosophy of walking and walkers through time, followed by reflection by Dr Jacques Vigne on the psychology of meditation in the East and the West. The overriding theme is quite a simple one: walking can become a form of active meditation for anyone, as well as a true means of rejuvenation. To be truly beneficial it requires us to focus our attention on our breathing, movement and thoughts. Walking is therefore an art which we must nurture as much for the well-being of our body as for that of the mind.
