This statuette represent Isis, one of the four goddesses protecting the gold wooden chest of Tutankhamun. Like the three other deities, Selkis, Nephthys and Neith, her arms are outstretched along one side of the chest in order to protect its contents.
The goddess is wearing a long, elegant, pleated tunic, with a Khat (a kind of smooth wig) upon her head, together with a throne, the hieroglyph for her name.
The black kohl on her eyes and eyebrows accentuates the solemnity of her task. The depiction of the body and face is typical of the Amarna style.
The original statue, made from gold painted wood, is exposed in the Cairo museum, in Egypt, and dates back to 1333-1323BC, during the 18th dynasty.
