Description

This fabulous amulet is a combination of various symbols: the Ankh cross represents eternal life; the Djed pillar with its four horizontal bars is often associated with Osiris, and is also considered to be a sign of stability; the holy Was-sceptre, depicted in relief on the pillar, is topped with the head of the mythical Set animal; the sceptre symbolises the god Set’s power over chaos.

This amulet was discovered close to the holy mountain of Djebel Barkal in Nubia.
